About El Hudaa
El Hudaa NPC is a registered nonprofit at 495 Hilma Street, Zuurbekom. We serve the religious, educational and social needs of Zuurbekom, Kliptown and Slovo Park.
Our background
El Hudaa started as a community Islamic organisation. Today the centre is where people come to pray, to learn, and to ask for help when they need it.
We try to answer the need in front of us, like a family without food this week. We also build programmes that last, so children grow up with an education and families can stand on their own.
Donors, volunteers, partner organisations and people from the community pay for all of it.

Sheikh Soultan Yousef is the director of El Hudaa Islamic Centre.
What we run
- Masjid Al Hudaa in Zuurbekom
- Madressahs in Zuurbekom, Kliptown and Slovo Park
- Little Bears Nursery School, with no fees
- A home for 20 orphaned and vulnerable children
- Classes for new Muslim men and women
- Food hampers, Ramadan parcels and Qurbani distribution
- A community vegetable garden

Who we work with
Gift of the Givers, Al-Imdaad Foundation and Islamic Relief South Africa have worked with us on food hampers, Ramadan distributions and Qurbani. Smaller community organisations and individual donors keep us going through the rest of the year.
